Qualcomm is gearing up for reveals at IFA next week

Qualcomm is gearing up to unveil new products at IFA 2024, which is kicking off next week. Although it hasn't been confirmed what the company will present, a leaked slide suggests that one of these products is the 8-core Snapdragon X Plus.

According to @evleaks (via VideoCardz), the company is set to introduce a new SKU for its Snapdragon X series, targeting the sub-$800 price range for laptops. This new SKU, dubbed X1P-42-100, will debut an Oryon CPU with eight cores, offering a cheaper but still capable solution for CoPilot+ laptops.

The upcoming release aims to deliver on Qualcomm President Cristiano Amon's promise to make high-performance computing more accessible. However, the CPU's GPU performance is expected to be notably slower, with a maximum compute performance of 1.7 TFLOPS, a reduction from the top X Elite SKU's 4.6 TFLOPS. As for AI performance, it seems it will be the same as the rest of the lineup, delivering up to 45 TOPS. Moreover, the chip is expected to support up to three external monitors at 4K 60Hz.

While the specifics of the release have yet to be officially confirmed by Qualcomm, there are hints that the Copilot+PC's 8-core CPU might not be the only highlight of the event. Qualcomm's press conference is scheduled for September 4th and will be livestreamed via YouTube for everyone to see.

KitGuru says: Windows CoPilot+ laptops might be interesting for some, but it's hard to justify getting one at their current price. The cheapest models in the UK go for around £950, but with this 8-core Snapdragon X Plus, you may get one of these laptops for considerably less.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
