EA Motive’s Iron Man game has passed ‘a major milestone’

EA Motive has been doing some excellent work in recent years, having impressed fans with Star Wars Squadrons and the Dead Space Remake. The studio is also expanding now to aid in development on the next Battlefield game, a project that will run alongside others, like the Iron Man project.

This announcement serves two purposes. Recently, EA began cancelling some licensed projects as part of an effort to refocus on its own IP. This meant that there were some lingering questions around EA's upcoming Marvel projects, like EA Motive's Iron Man. Fortunately, the game is still on the way, and the project recently passed a significant milestone.

In an announcement post today, EA Motive confirms that Iron Man is still in development and has made “excellent progress this year, hitting a major internal milestone and laying a robust foundation for the journey ahead”. That sounds to me like the game is nearing the production-ready stage, where the development team will scale up in a push to get the game ready for release.

Aside from Iron Man, EA Motive is also now hiring for a new team, which will focus on supporting DICE, Critereon and other EA studios in developing the next generation Battlefield game. DICE is now winding down development on Battlefield 2042 to fully focus on the next game.

While this has worked in the past, Black Ops 7 seems to have been a breaking point for some. According to known insiders, Microsoft is now considering a major shake-up, including a standalone Zombies game.
