System Shock Remake ‘Parity’ Update available now

After a lengthy development, Nightdive Studios’ System Shock Remake finally released on PC in 2023 to solid reviews across the board. Since then, the game has only improved with time, receiving a major update in 2024 in alignment with the remake’s PlayStation / Xbox release. Now, following its recent arrival on the Nintendo Switch late last year, System Shock Remake is getting another significant ‘parity’ update.

Taking to their Steam page to make the announcement, the team at Nightdive Studios unveiled System Shock Remake’s 2.1 update, stating: “System Shock Version 2.1 is officially live across all platforms! Internally, we’ve dubbed this the ‘Parity Patch.’ This update represents a major milestone for System Shock, as we bring every platform onto the exact same version of the game.”

The full patch notes can be found HERE, but some of the most notable changes/additions include:

  • Realspace and Cyberspace level design on several Decks refined with balance and lighting tweaks.
  • Gamepad aiming has been refined, including improvements to Aiming Down Sights
  • Enhanced dynamic music systems
  • Refined certain textures and audio logs using community mods
  • Fixed the Boot Up and Death BIOS screens on resolutions outside of 1080p
  • Station monitors updating to properly reflect the world state
  • Added in some additional sound effects for UI interactions and feedback.
  • Lowered cyberstinger health.

While far from the most transformative of updates, it is exciting nonetheless to have what appears to be the final and complete version of System Shock Remake now available on all current systems with feature-parity across the board.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
