Resident Evil 9 is still a long way off from release, it’s now claimed

If you’re eagerly awaiting news on Resident Evil 9, you might want to brace yourself. Insider Dusk Golem has indicated that the game’s release is still a long way off.

In a recent Twitter thread, Dusk Golem advised fans to temper their expectations for a Resident Evil 9 announcement this summer. He suggested that both the announcement and the game’s release are likely to be delayed until 2025 or 2026:

“First, I would wipe the expectations of RE9 being announced this summer period. The initial murmurs I heard I now do believe are right, & RE9's announcement”.

Dusk Golem was the first to report that Resident Evil 9 might be announced this summer and even hinted at an early 2025 release date. As this source had been accurate with early information on previous Resident Evil games, this rumour caught on with fans. However, he now apologises for the “back and forth” on conflicting rumours.

While Resident Evil 9 may still be quite far off, we should see more Remakes in the series sooner. For starters, a Code Veronica remake is said to be in development, as well as a remake for Resident Evil 0. However, it is also claimed that there has been no movement on a Resident Evil 5 Remake, or a second remake of Resident Evil 1.

KitGuru Says: Given how up and down the RE9 rumours have been, all of this information should be taken with a pinch of salt. Summer Game Fest is just around the corner, so Capcom will make its official plans for the year known very soon.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
