Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 delayed

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 was initially planned to be released this Winter but the game has since been delayed. Now, the developers plan to release the game in the second half of 2024, giving a chunk of extra development time for polishing and bug fixing.

Interestingly, Space Marine 2 has already been wish-listed over a million times, quite a bit more than we expected, considering where it ranks on Steam's top wishlisted games list. According to SteamDB, the upcoming title has been wishlisted over 66K times. Still, it's clear that many gamers are eagerly anticipating this unexpected but welcome sequel to the 2011 Relic-developed third-person shooter.

Saber Interactive is handling the development duties this time, and we've been treated to some exciting previews of the chainswording action over the past year. The game is now set to release sometime during the second half of 2024, but a more specific release date will be revealed next month. With The Game Awards coming around that time, we wouldn't be surprised if Focus Entertainment chose the event to share more details about the game, including the release date.

Despite the delay, 2023 has already been a notable year for the 40K franchise, with the successful release of the throwback FPS Boltgun in May and the upcoming release of Rogue Trader, an RPG from the developers of Pathfinder, scheduled for December 7th.
