Gearbox Publishing rebrands to Arc Games

Embracer Group recently sold off Gearbox Entertainment, along with a few other studios, to Take-Two Interactive. However, Embracer did hang on to Gearbox Publishing. Now, Gearbox Publishing is rebranding, renaming to Arc Games.

Gearbox Publishing partnered with a number of indie studios over the years to publish some very successful titles, like the Risk of Rain series, as well as the Remnant games. Now, as confirmed by Remnant 2 developer, Gunfire Games, Gearbox Publishing has been rebranded to Arc Games. It would seem that the publisher will continue to work with Gunfire Games on the Remnant series.

Under this new label, the company will act as publisher for several upcoming games, including Gigantic: Rampage Edition and Hyper Light Breaker, a long awaited follow-up to the indie gem, Hyper Light Drifter.

Arc Games will have more announcements under its new name as part of the Triple I showcase this week, a new showcase dedicated to highlighting upcoming indie titles.

KitGuru Says: Now that Gearbox is back with Take-Two under its subsidiary, 2K Games, which already has its own publishing capabilities, leaving Gearbox Publishing with Embracer was a smart move. Hopefully Arc Games can continue to support promising indie projects in the future – I'll be keeping my eye out for Hyper Light Breaker.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
