Xbox launches free Blue Dragon background in honour of Akira Toriyama

Xbox is paying tribute to Akira Toriyama, who passed away on March 1st, by launching a free dynamic background on Xbox, depicting characters from Blue Dragon, which Toriyama provided artwork for.

Toriyama is known for creating iconic works such as Dragon Ball and Dr. Slump and providing artwork for other games like Dragon Quest and Chrono Trigger. In honour of his legacy, Microsoft is offering a free dynamic dashboard wallpaper of the Xbox 360-era RPG, Blue Dragon. The wallpaper features the protagonist, Shu, standing with his dragon companion on top of a mountain, as depicted on the game's box art cover.

While Blue Dragon may not be as well-known as some of Toriyama's other creations, the RPG was designed to compete with the popular Final Fantasy series on Xbox in 2006. Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi and composer Nobuo Uematsu participated in the game's development, and it was generally well-received.

The game got both manga and anime adaptations, with the latter crediting Akira Toriyama for character design.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
