It Takes Two has sold over 16 million copies

It Takes Two was one of the biggest surprise hits of 2021. Developed by Hazelight Studios of A Way Out fame, the title managed to win the prestigious Game of the Year award during 2021’s TGAs. Since then, the co-op title has continued to further surpass all expectations – having now sold over 16 million copies.

Making the announcement on Twitter, Hazelight Studios celebrated It Takes Two’s birthday, saying “Today is not only the three year anniversary for #ItTakesTwo…The game has now sold over 16 MILLION units!!! Mind-blowing that over 30 million fans have now played it, love you all so much.”

As mentioned, It Takes Two is a co-op only experience, and so 16 million copies translates to over 30 million players in total – a massive achievement for such a relatively small team.

Every game by Hazelight Studios has been more impressive and creative than the last. With just how successful It Takes Two has been, it’ll be interesting to see what the team has planned next.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
