EA Sports delists older FIFA titles from digital stores

Electronic Arts has removed FIFA titles from digital retailers such as Steam and console stores, just before EA Sports FC 24 is about to officially release.

According to MauroNL, none of EA's FIFA games, including last year's title, FIFA 23, are now available for purchase on those sites. Note that some of these older FIFA titles are still playable through EA Play. If you really want them, you can still get physical versions of the delisted titles on consoles, and if you've previously bought a FIFA game on a digital site, you may download it again.

However, if you haven't already purchased FIFA 23 or one of the prior games on platforms like Steam, you're out of luck. “At the request of the publisher, EA Sports FIFA 23 has been unlisted on the Steam store and will not appear in search,” a note on the game's Steam page says. It's unclear why EA has pulled all of these titles from sale, but given the timeframe, it's probably related to licensing.

EA and FIFA dissolved their long-running licencing arrangements for the famous series of football games last year. The series has been renamed EA Sports FC by EA, with the first entry currently in early access. The official release is scheduled for September 29th.

KitGuru says: With EA Sports FC 24 already out, buying older FIFA titles doesn't make much sense. Still, it's never cool to delist games without prior notice, much less if they're relatively recent.
