Baldur’s Gate 3 is getting official modding support in September

Larian Studios has announced that Baldur's Gate 3 will soon get official mod support. A closed alpha is now available, and a closed beta test will follow in July. The official release will come with Patch 7, scheduled for September.

Modding support on Baldur's Gate 3 for PC will be evaluated to guarantee service compatibility and general stability before approval, much like Bethesda does with Fallout and Skyrim. The mods will then go through further clearances before being released to consoles. PC players will have access to the entire suite of mod development tools, and modifications may still be created, downloaded, and played without using the official mod browser. As for console users, they'll be limited to installing only the Larian-approved mods.

Gamers who want to test mod support during the close beta in July will soon be able to sign up. As Larian has mentioned, there are no plans to create DLC or a Baldur's Gate 3 sequel, so providing official mod support will allow the community to create more content for the game, ensuring it remains relevant for the foreseeable future.

Besides official mod support, Patch 7 will also include other improvements to the game, such as minor additions to the story, changes to evil endings, and bug fixes. In addition to Patch 7, which will be released in September, Larian has announced plans to introduce crossplay and picture mode.
