Call of Duty x The Walking Dead crossover announced

Over the years we have seen Call of Duty lean increasingly into crossover content, with many different media properties finding their way into the game – be it through Seasonal events or in-game character skins, Ahead of the announcement of MWIII Season 2, the team have released a teaser for COD x The Walking Dead.

As published to the official Call of Duty YouTube channel, COD MWIII is set to crossover with the bleak world of The Walking Dead as part of the game’s Season 2 content, The teaser is brief and shows very little, though based on the included characters, we will likely see operator skins released for fan-favourites Rick Grimes and Michonne.

While The Walking Dead’s popularity has waned over the years, the fact that Modern Warfare III includes a Zombies mode presents an interesting and unique opportunity for Activision. Hopefully the crossover is substantive.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
