Kojima’s Xbox game ‘OD’ unaffected by recent Microsoft cuts

Needless to say, this has been an awful week for Xbox, with thousands of developers being let go, several high-profile game cancellations and even a few studio closures. As Microsoft purpotedly began cancelling funding for third-party game projects, some fans became worried about the status of Kojima's upcoming Xbox game, OD.

OD was announced a couple of years ago at The Game Awards. It was going to be the first time that Kojima had produced an Xbox exclusive, but given Microsoft's recent pivot to multi-platform releases, it is now no longer certain that OD will be exclusive to Xbox platforms.

Kojima Productions has been busy with Death Stranding 2, so progress on OD has been slow and we've heard no news since the game's initial teaser. However, it is far from a ‘dead' project. As reported by Windows Central, Kojima Productions' deal with Microsoft for OD was not affected by the recent cuts at Xbox.

There is still no word on when the game might come out, but we would expect it to be a few years away at least.

KitGuru Says: OD is anticipated to be Kojima's return to survival horror. After we all missed out on Kojima's version of Silent Hill, OD is going to have a lot of eyes on it.
