Jack Black cast as Steve in Minecraft film

As far back as 2014 there have been rumours circulating that a Minecraft movie was in development. We have heard bits and pieces regarding the film in the many years since, with the movie claimed to be arriving in 2025. Now, we have perhaps had the biggest piece of news so far, with Jack Black said to be playing the role of protagonist Steve.

As reported by Deadline, with production for the Minecraft film set to soon begin, Jack Black has officially been cast as Steve. So far, Black has been the only actor to have had his role confirmed. While we know that the likes of Jason Momoa and Emma Myers are featured in the film, their roles have not yet been revealed.

Minecraft marks the second major video game adaptation starring Jack Black, with last year’s highly successful Mario Movie seeing him take on the role of Bowser. Additionally, Jack Black is also said to be involved in the previously-announced Borderlands film.

Jack Black is known to be a fan of video games, with the actor even taking the lead role in 2009’s Brutal Legend game – lending both his voice and likeness to the title. With production on the Minecraft movie said to be finally underway, hopefully we will get a teaser trailer sooner rather than later.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
