Modders have already found a way to use FSR 3 frame generation in games that support DLSS 3

With FSR 3 going open source, it was just a matter of time before modders started to add support for the technology into games. Gamers can already use FSR 3 frame generation in some games that don't officially support the technology, including The Last Of Us Part 1 and Cyberpunk 2077.

Although game developers are not in a hurry to add official FSR 3 support for their games, modder Nukem9 (via Wccftech) has taken matters into their own hands by enabling players to swap DLSS Frame Generation (DLSSG) components with AMD FSR 3 Frame Generation, allowing systems with RTX 20 and 30 series GPUs to run the game with frame generation enabled. This solution may not be perfect, as gamers can experience suboptimal performance, visual artefacts and glitches. Still, it should be worth a shot.

If you want to use the mod (DLSSG-TO-FSR3) developed by Nukem9, it's already available for download. However, there are some prerequisites to follow. You should have an Nvidia RTX graphics card with up-to-date drivers, and make sure Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling is enabled in Windows Settings. You should install this mod in your game directory, start the game, and deactivate V-Sync in the options menu. Then, enable frame generation. This will result in screen tearing, so to restore V-Sync and maintain frame generation running correctly, open the Nvidia Control Panel, scroll to “Manage 3D settings,” and activate “Vertical sync” for the individual game.

To install the mod, start by finding the directory where you installed the game (it varies based on the platform on which you own the game). Then, download the mod, unzip it, and copy the “dlssg_to_fsr3_amd_is_better.dll” and “dbghelp.dll” files into the game's directory. Start the game, and a popup should appear informing you that the mod has been loaded. If you do not see this window, you installed the mod incorrectly. Lastly, enter the game's options, and the Frame Generation setting should no longer be greyed out, allowing you to enable it.

Some users have reported that the mod works fine for many titles, such as Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3. However, other titles, such as Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Dying Light 2, and Hitman 3, may have issues.

KitGuru says: If you can't enable frame generation on a specific game, that may change soon. There's a good chance that the mod will be updated to improve performance and compatibility. Moreover, mod users should be able to find workarounds to make it work properly on more games.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
