Call of Duty: Black Ops will return in 2024 with new game set during the 90s

Future instalments in the Call of Duty franchise are often a terribly kept secret, with the next game typically leaking before, or around the time of release as the current title. In keeping with that tradition, Call of Duty 2024 has now leaked, shortly following the release of Modern Warfare 3. 

In 2024, Call of Duty will return to Black Ops, according to Windows Central. This new Black Ops game will be set in the early 1990s, during the Gulf War, and naturally, Treyarch is leading development on it.

As this game is set in the 90s, we won't see as much current or near-future technology or weaponry, but Treyarch will still have plenty of Black Ops style gadgets for players to make use of. On the multiplayer side, we should see a selection of classic Black Ops maps returning, as well as a new Zombies mode.

Again, just as you would expect, Call of Duty 2024 will be releasing in late 2024, around October/November, as is the case each year. This will be the first game developed under the ownership of Microsoft and as a result, it could be the very first COD game to get a day-one release on Game Pass.

KitGuru Says: Modern Warfare 3's campaign has been widely panned and labeled as a waste of time by many players. Hopefully Treyarch's return can usher in a more polished and cinematic campaign compared to this year's release.
