Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 surpasses 5 million copies in 10 days

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is undoubtedly one of the biggest titles of the year. Just 24 hours following the game’s launch on the 20th of October, it was announced that the PS5 exclusive had sold over 2.5 million copies. Now, we have gotten an update on the game’s success – with it surpassing 5 million in just 10 days.

Making the announcement on Twitter, Insomniac Games revealed the impressive sales stat, saying “Woo! We're incredibly honored to announce Marvel's #SpiderMan2PS5 has sold over 5 MILLION COPIES! Thank you to our incredible community for supporting us and helping us reach this milestone! #BeGreaterTogether.”

While impressive in its own right, what makes this doubly surprising is the fact that the game is currently outpacing Super Mario Bros. Wonder – which released for the Nintendo Switch on the exact same day.

Despite being the “fastest-selling Super Mario related title” Wonder ‘only’ managed to push 4.3 million units in its first two weeks. Of course, both Mario and Spider-Man have been incredibly successful, but it is interesting to see Spider-Man 2 outpacing Mario currently – especially since the PS5’s total user base is just 1/3rd of the Switch’s.

Most recent figures for 2018’s Spider-Man as well as Miles Morales puts the two titles as having sold a total of 33 million copies by May of last year. It will be interesting to see how Spider-Man 2 continues to perform, especially as more and more people get their hands on a PS5.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
