Battlefield 2042 gets new 12v12 game mode for Dark Protocol event

Battlefield 2042 has had quite the comeback recently, with concurrent players surging passed the 100K mark on Steam in October. Now, DICE is looking to keep the momentum going with the launch of the Dark Protocol event.

Battlefield 2042: Dark Protocol is a limited time event that will run for two weeks as part of the game's sixth season of content. You'll be able to participate from the 31st of October until the 14th of November, earning unique rewards along the way.

Dark Protocol centres around the Boreas facility, a secret R&D laboratory in the Hebrides. The facility was breached and rogue AI has taken over to create synthetic soldiers known as Geists. Players will jump into the new Killswitch game mode to play the Dark Protocol event.

Maps available in the Killswitch game mode include Speahead, Hourglass, Manifest and Redacted. You'll need to take control of an area with your team, create Geists and then use them to secure nodes. Players will be forced to fight in small and exposed spaces, so there is the consistent threat of enemy fire and you'll need to coordinate with your teammates to secure the location.

The event goes live next Tuesday, so if you recently picked up Battlefield 2042 on sale, then you can jump in.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
