Making a new Rayman game would be the “pinnacle of all the possibilities”

The Rayman series has had an interesting life. While at one point seen as a relic of a bygone era, the mascot platforming franchise has had a resurgence as of late, with many fans both old and new hoping to see a new entry in this long-dormant franchise. While Ubisoft have yet to officially announce a new Rayman, the creative director for the Mario + Rabbids series has expressed a great deal of interest in wanting to bring the series back.

In an interview conducted by NintendoEverything, the creative director for both Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle and Sparks of Hope – Davide Solliani – was asked whether he would be interested in working on a brand new Rayman game, to which the developer responded:

“If I had the opportunity, I would be crazy to not take that chance. To be honest, yes. I mean, Rayman is the type of game that has no realistic element. And because there is no realism, everything that you create in the game comes from your fantasy and the fantasy of the team. And so, [everything] from a chair to a table to an enemy to the environment is a form of art, is creating something from scratch. So to me as a developer, it’s the pinnacle of all the possibilities.”

Soliani continued, “You can go crazy and create your own stuff, as we did in Sparks of Hope. I think I would be crazy to not take that opportunity if given the chance.”

As mentioned, the Rayman series has not seen a new entry in quite a long time, with the most recent original release being 2013’s Rayman Legends.

The latter Rayman entries in particular were lauded for their unique approach to 2D platforming, with the games focusing on maintaining momentum and flow. As 2D platformers have once again returned to the limelight, it would make sense for Ubisoft to bring back Rayman in some capacity. Hopefully Soliani gets his wish.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
