Fable narrative lead leaves Playground Games

Playground Games' Fable reboot has been in the works since 2018. We finally got our first gameplay trailer for the game earlier this year, but oddly enough, another major change has now taken place. Just one year after joining the team, the game's narrative lead has left the company.

Anna Megil, formerly known for her work on games like Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, Control, Guild Wars 2 and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, had joined PlayGround Games in 2022 to work on the new Fable game. Now, Megil is departing the studio, but says that the game is “in good hands”, adding that she is “excited for what's coming next”.

Fable does not currently have a release date but following the trailer this year, rumours of a 2024 release date have circulated widely. However, it is also worth noting that Playground Games has lost some important staff members this year, including co-founder, Gavin Raeburn, who started a new studio called Lighthouse Games earlier this year, taking some other members of Playground Games with him.

Fable began life back in the early 2000s as an original Xbox game. The series continued on strong into the Xbox 360 era with Fable 2, but the series then went on a bit of a downward trend. Fable 3 didn't garner much critical acclaim, and a number of other Fable-related projects were cancelled during the Xbox One era. The Fable reboot will mark ‘a new beginning' for the franchise when it does eventually arrive.

KitGuru Says: This wouldn't be the first time we've seen a key departure from the Fable team. Those looking forward to the game will have to keep their fingers crossed that this isn't a sign of further delays.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
