Capcom “want to take care in how we develop” Mega Man

Despite being one of their most popular IPs, Capcom has in recent years done very little with Mega Man. Following the success of the recent Battle Network Legacy Collection, Capcom has spoken on the prospect of more original Mega Man games in the future.

During their most recent shareholders meeting, Capcom hosted a Q&A session in which they were asked “Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection was released in April and has surpassed 1 million units in sales, contributing to existing IP utilization and user expansion. What are your plans for the Mega Man series?”

In response, the publisher said “Including Mega Man 11, the latest entry in the franchise, Mega Man is one of Capcom's historic IPs and is loved by fans, and as such we want to take care in how we develop the series. We are considering how to approach the production of new entries in the series, which requires numerous factors, including the development of a solid concept, ideas and gameplay, etc.”

Mega Man is the 4th biggest IP owned by Capcom, with the franchise having sold a total of 38 million copies since its inception. While certainly nowhere nearly as popular as the likes of Resident Evil (142 million) or Monster Hunter (92 million), Mega Man is an iconic part of the video games industry, and so hopefully he gets more love in the not-too-distant future.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
