PlayStation launches official Esports YouTube channel

Sony has been getting more and more into Esports in recent years, with the console manufacturer even going as far as to acquire the EVO Championship Series – the ultimate fighting game tournament. As part of this refocus on Esports, Sony has now launched an official PlayStation Esports Channel.

So far consisting of just two videos, Sony introduces this new endeavour by saying “Welcome to the world of PlayStation Esports. Subscribe for pro player interviews, tips, tricks, guides, highlights, and more exclusive content that you can only find on this channel.”

The first proper video on the channel is a rather simple one which guides you on how to enter PS5 tournaments through the console’s interface – an important first video.

Sony has in the past hosted tournaments on its main PlayStation YouTube Channel. While this was good for views (thanks to the channel having nearly 15 million subscribers), it did in some instances clog up the subscription feed. By moving it to its own channel, hopefully those interested in these tournaments will have greater access to them – while those with no interest don’t have to be bombarded with videos. It will be interesting to see how the channel develops.
