NetherRealm begins to tease Mortal Kombat 12

For months, we've been hearing rumours about Mortal Kombat 12. Now, it looks like the game could be due for a reveal soon, as the series' 30th-anniversary celebrations have begun.

The 30th Anniversary video shared on the Mortal Kombat Twitter account has a brief clip towards the end, showing a cinematic of a big and shiny rock bursting in space and sending out a shockwave. Interestingly, Jeff Grubb previously hinted at Mortal Kombat 12 ‘going to space', so the clip very well may have been our first look at the game.

WB Discovery CEO, David Zaslav, has previously indicated unannounced release windows for projects, including Gotham Knights and Hogwarts Legacy. In a more recent earnings call, he casually confirmed that Mortal Kombat 12 is on the way, but NetherRealm has not yet officially announced it.

For now, Ed Boon and NetherRealm are simply saying that things are “just getting started”, so we should be prepared for more announcements soon.

KitGuru Says: 2023 is shaping up to be a huge year for fighting games, with Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8 and now, Mortal Kombat 12. The game hasn't been officially announced yet and there is always a chance it ends up getting a 2024 release date, but we'll have to wait and see.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
