Triangle Strategy has sold over 1 million copies

Square Enix released quite a few games in 2022, with one of the most exciting being Triangle Strategy – a followup to Octopath Traveller, similarly utilising the unique HD-2D art style and format. As with Octopath Traveller, Triangle Strategy has found great success, having already sold over 1 million copies.

As announced by Square Enix on Twitter, the publisher said “Thanks to all of you, [Triangle Strategy] has exceeded 1 million worldwide shipments + downloads. Thank you. To commemorate this, we are having a 40% off sale. Please check it out if you haven't played it yet.”

For the uninitiated, Triangle Strategy is a “new tactics RPG from the team who brought you the Bravely series and Octopath Traveler. An epic tale, brought to life with stunning HD-2D graphics. Make difficult decisions in this story set against a backdrop of the war-torn continent of Norzelia.”

Achieving such sales is impressive as unlike Octopath Traveller (which offered a rather typical JRPG-like experience) Triangle Strategy is – as is in the name – a strategy title. Though it does offer RPG elements, it being a strategy game makes the title much more niche when compared to the likes of Octopath Traveller.

With the game not yet having been out for a year (and only releasing in October for PC), Triangle Strategy still has a long shelf life left, meaning when all is said and done, it would not be surprising to see the game surpass the total lifetime sales of Octopath Traveller (3+ million copies sold). We will have to wait and see.
