Deathverse: Let it Die temporarily shuts down as game is ‘redeveloped’

Let it Die was an interesting but ultimately failed experiment to create a free-to-play Souls-like all the way back in 2016 exclusively for PlayStation. In 2022 we saw the surprise release of its pseudo-sequel, with the battle royale game ‘Deathverse: Let it Die’. Unfortunately, it too has not been performing that well, and so the game is being temporarily shut down to allow for it to be ‘redeveloped.’

Making the announcement on their website, Deathverse developer Supertrick Games said to fans: “Thank you so much for your constant support of DEATHVERSE: LET IT DIE. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who enjoys and enriches the game and its community. There is no doubt that we experienced some challenges since the launch of our game, particularly with regards to in-game matchmaking and lag. We deeply apologize for these issues that may have caused an inconvenience to our players.”

The team continued, “While we have tried various solutions to some degree of success, we have not been able to resolve the underlying problems. As a result, the development and operations teams have made the decision to temporarily suspend the game’s services while we redevelop DEATHVERSE: LET IT DIE.”

Explaining their reasoning, the team said “This was a difficult decision for us to make. However, we believe that re-releasing the game with significant improvements will allow it to be enjoyed by a wider audience as well as our current players.

Considering how much time goes into developing a game–and that there’s a finite number of games one can possibly make in a lifetime–it’s impossible to say at this stage whether this is the right choice. But we love this game and are proud to have developed it together as a team. Therefore, we believe this is the best possible decision at this time.”

Deathverse: Let it Die will suspend services on the 18th of July 2023, with no date as to when it will return.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
