Capcom is bringing all modern Resident Evil games to Switch as ‘cloud’ versions

While older Resident Evil games run quite nicely on the Nintendo Switch, newer releases in the franchise, such as Resident Evil 2 & 3 Remake, Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village would struggle. Still, Capcom has found a way to bring these titles to Switch owners through cloud gaming.

Nintendo began experimenting with cloud gaming early on in the Switch's life cycle. In fact, Resident Evil 7 was one of the first cloud games to ever come to Switch, but this version was only made available in Japan. Now years later, that is finally changing. Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil Village, and the most recent remakes will all be joining the Switch eShop in cloud version form.

Resident Evil Village will be the first to arrive, with the Switch cloud version launching on the 28th of October. The other games do not have release dates at this time, but hopefully they won't be too far behind.

With all of these games landing on Switch in cloud form, we have to wonder if Resident Evil 4 Remake will get the same treatment. That game is currently set to release on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in March 2023. Perhaps later in the year, we'll see a cloud version for Switch too.
