Norman Reedus might not be in the Death Stranding film

Last week we reported that a film adaptation of the popular stealth-action thriller Death Stranding is in the works. With the game utilising a whole host of familiar faces from Hollywood, many expected that this film will likewise feature the game’s cast, including Norman Reedus and Léa Seydoux. According to Kojima however, the actors and their characters may not appear in the film at all.

As part of a recent interview with IGN – where he revealed he would like to eventually become an AI if possible, game creator Hideo Kojima briefly discussed the recently-announced Death Stranding film, claiming that it may not feature any of the game’s cast of characters, saying:

“We haven't quite decided that yet. The failure of film adaptations of games from a while back has led to a lot of movies that cater to gamers, right? That's why they have the same kind of look as a game. I don't want the Death Stranding movie to be like that.”

Explaining his mindset with this film, Kojima continued, “I’m taking the approach of changing and evolving the world of Death Stranding in a way that suits film well. I made Death Stranding to be a game, and games are games. There's no real need to turn them into films. So in a way, the Death Stranding movie is taking a direction that nobody has tried before with a movie adaptation of a game. I think that what I need to make is something that will inspire some of the people who watch it to become creators 10 or 20 years down the line.”

Death Stranding is not a short game, with the epilogue alone being as long as an entire film. It therefore makes sense that the adaptation will be taking a different direction to the game – even if it would have been cool to see Reedus, Seydoux and co. reprising their roles in a Death Stranding film.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
