Embracer Group is splitting up into three companies

Embracer Group has spent more than a year undergoing a major restructuring effort, selling off a number of studios and shutting down others to improve the company's financial situation. Now, Embracer has announced the next step in all of this, with the massive organisation splitting up into three companies.

From now Embracer will be splitting up into three separately traded companies. The first will be the Asmodee Group, which will consist of table top games, like Catan, Exploding Kittens, The Lord of the Rings card game, Ticket to Ride, 7 Wonders and others. Combined, the Asmodee group holds 23 studios and over 300 IP.

The second new company is Coffee Stain & Friends, consisting of Embracer's indie-focused studios and publishers. As the name suggests, this group includes Coffee Stain, as well as the likes of Ghost Ship, Tuxedo Labs and THQ Nordic. Together, this group oversees games like Neverwinter, Star Trek Online, Deep Rock Galactic, Valheim, Satisfactory, Wreckfest and Goat Simulator 3.

Finally, the AAA-focused games company will be Middle-Earth Enterprises & Friends, and consists of studios like Warhorse, Vertigo Games, Tripwire, 4A Games, Dark Horse, Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal. These companies will oversee IP like Metro, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Dead Island, The Lord of the Rings, Killing Floor and Tomb Raider. Curiously, Deus Ex doesn't get a mention and considering a Deus Ex game was recently cancelled, that doesn't bode too well for the series' immediate future.
