Microsoft Flight Simulator surpasses 10 million players

Since its launch back in late 2020, Microsoft Flight Simulator has seen continued support from the team at Asobo Studio, updating the game countless times with new content, quality-of-life improvements and so much more. This support for the game has seemingly also been echoed by fans, as Microsoft Flight Simulator has now officially surpassed 10 million players.

Making the announcement on the Xbox Wire Blog, Jorg Neumann, the Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator began by stating “Microsoft Flight Simulator is thrilled to mark another momentous milestone made possible by our tremendous community. Since the introduction 27 months ago of the latest version of Microsoft Flight Simulator, we have released 27 robust updates to simmers. All completely free!”

The team’s consistent support for the game has not been in vain, as Neumann then revealed that “more than 10 million pilots have enjoyed the beauty, awe, and wonder of the world available in Microsoft Flight Simulator across Windows/PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and Xbox console.”

Between these 10 million players, more than 500 million flights have been engaged, with a total of 40 billion miles flown. To put such a number into context, the total distance travelled is equivalent to 10 million trips around the Earth or 200 round trips from the Earth to the Sun.

27 updates later and Asobo Studio have no plans to slow down their support for Microsoft Flight Simulator, claiming to be “just getting started!” as “we have exciting plans for 2023 and beyond”. With so many updates released already, it will be interesting to see what exactly these future plans are.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
