Summer Game Fest returns in June 2023 to take on E3

Geoff Keighley stopped being involved with E3 a few years back, but The Game Awards presenter swiftly returned to Summer events in 2020 with the launch of Summer Games Fest, a lengthy event comprised of multiple showcases from publishers across the industry. Next year, E3 is returning, but Summer Game Fest will kick off just a few days before.

Summer Game Fest is returning on the 8th of June 2023, promising a big showcase with new game announcements, trailers and even a few live gameplay demos. While the first Summer Game Fest was spread out over several months, this year's event was much more streamlined, with the main announcements taking place in early June, with a few more announcements spread out over the following weeks.

With Summer Game Fest kicking off on the 8th of June, it'll pose as early competition to E3, which is also returning next year after taking 2022 off. Next year's E3 will run from the 13th to the 16th of June, so it will be a very packed month for gaming news.

KitGuru Says: We still don't know what studios or publishers will be involved with Summer Game Fest or E3 next year. Once those schedules are announced, we should have a good idea as to how big next year's events will be.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
