Monster Hunter Wilds patch improves solo play with offline Event and Challenge Quests

After a string of patches and a permanent price decrease for the game, Monster Hunter Wilds is now in much better shape than it was at launch. One major change coming in the next patch makes more of the game enjoyable offline – with Capcom now removing the online requirements for Event Quests and Challenge Quests for the first time.

First spotted by Eurogamer, Patch 1.042 for Monster Hunter Wilds makes Challenge Quests and Event Quests playable offline. These quests were previously online‑only and form the core of Monster Hunter’s live‑service offering, rotating new hunts weekly for players to tackle solo or in multiplayer. They typically focus on specific monsters at set Hunter Rank levels, making them end‑game content aimed at dedicated fans.

As part of the update, all 25 previously released Event and Challenge Quests will now be accessible offline. You also won’t need to wait for a particular quest to return in rotation, allowing players to take on Wilds’ toughest hunts at their own pace.

There will be more free updates for Monster Hunter Wilds in the months ahead, leading up to the game’s major expansion, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, which is coming in 2027.

KitGuru Says: Monster Hunter Wilds has improved significantly since launch. This change will make a big difference for players who prefer tackling hunts solo and don't want to schedule their game time around Capcom's own schedule.
