Capcom teams up with TiMi to bring Monster Hunter to mobile

Capcom has released a few premium Monster Hunter games on mobile, but we've yet to see a big free to play offering. That will be changing soon, with Capcom teaming up with a mobile specialist studio to produce a new Monster Hunter game for iOS and Android.

TiMi, a chinese studio owned by Tencent and best known for its work on games like Pokemon Unite, Call of Duty: Mobile and Honor of Kings, is now teaming up with Capcom to make a Monster Hunter game for mobile. There is no release date yet, but Capcom did reveal a little about the upcoming title.

“The in-development game will reproduce the hunting actions that define the Monster Hunter series, and offers players a new game experience unique for mobile devices and phones”, the announcement reads. “This first-time partnership between TiMi and Capcom will combine the experiences and strengths of both sides, allowing Monster Hunter to scale to more platforms with an aim to give global hunters – experienced or new – the freedom to hunt as they desire, anytime and anywhere.”

That is all the information we have for now, but typically there isn't much lag time between a mobile game announcement and release, so expect to see more updates on this next year.

KitGuru Says: A more casual version of Monster Hunter could work very well on mobile devices, and as we've seen from big games like Call of Duty: Mobile and Genshin Impact, you can also deliver excellent visuals across a broad range of devices.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
