CD Projekt Red roadmap has multiple new Witcher, Cyberpunk RPGs and a brand new IP

Earlier this week, CD Projekt Red held its first investor event since the release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and the resurgence of Cyberpunk 2077 across PC and consoles. As it turns out, the company is incredibly busy with new and upcoming projects. For starters, yes Cyberpunk 2077 will have a sequel, but there are also multiple new Witcher RPGs in the works and a new IP.

CD Projekt Red showed off its roadmap as part of the presentation. For The Witcher franchise, CD Projekt Red is working on a full new trilogy of games, starting with the game that was announced back in March. In addition, CDPR has licensed the IP to an undisclosed 3rd party studio led by Witcher 3 veterans, who are working on a separate Witcher game codenamed ‘Canis Majoris'. Finally, The Molasses Flood, a studio that CD Projekt acquired in the lead-up to Cyberpunk 2077, is now working on a new Witcher game codenamed ‘Sirius'.

As far as Cyberpunk goes, CD Projekt Red is working on the Phantom Liberty expansion, due out in 2023, and the company has a small team beginning Project Orion, which will be a full sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, aiming to “prove the full power and potential of the Cyberpunk universe”. Hopefully, the lessons learned during 2077's development, and post-launch will aid them in crafting a better sequel from the get-go.

Finally, CD Projekt Red is also working on Project Hadar, a brand new IP that will be the company's ‘third pillar', right alongside Cyberpunk and The Witcher. It is a standalone, original IP that has been in incubation since 2021, rather than a licensed title.

KitGuru Says: CD Projekt Red has a lot on its plate. Hopefully, we aren't waiting five years between each of these releases, otherwise, we'll be stuck on this roadmap for another 25 years.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
