Corsair announces the ‘K100 AIR’, an ultra-thin wireless mechanical keyboard

Mechanical keyboards are great for their tactility, accuracy and overall pleasant hand-fell. This typically comes at the cost of thickness, with most being rather chunky. In recent years we have started to see manufacturers offer more slimmed-down mechanical keyboards. Corsair have now revealed their own take on the ultra-thin mechanical keyboard, with their latest K100 AIR.

Launching on the 4th of October, the Corsair K100 AIR is the company’s “thinnest high-performance keyboard ever,” measuring just 11mm thin at its slimmest point. Despite this, the keyboard’s sturdy brushed aluminium frame ensures that the typing experience is not compromised in any way.

The same goes for the keys themselves, utilising “hyper-responsive Cherry MX Ultra Low Profile mechanical keyswitches” – meaning that your typing and gaming experience should be just as satisfying, responsive and reliable as even the thickest of keyboards.

Being a wireless keyboard, the K100 AIR offers three different ways to connect to your devices: via wired USB, low-latency Bluetooth or Corsair’s bespoke SLIPSTREAM wireless technology. If you do choose to go the wireless route, the thinness of the K100 AIR does not sacrifice on battery life, offering 50 hours with the RGB backlight enabled, or 200 hours without.

Additionally, you can connect to multiple devices at once with one-key switching, meaning that you don’t need to faff about with pairing your different devices over and over again any time you want to switch from your PC to a tablet for example.

Of course, you’ll be able to customise the RGB lighting to your heart’s content, personalising it however you wish. Furthermore, thanks to its onboard storage, the keyboard can locally save up to 50 separate profiles for quick and easy switching. As with all good gaming keyboards, the K100 AIR comes with four dedicated macro keys to use as you please.

Corsair has not yet announced a price for the K100 AIR, but with it set to arrive on the 4th of October, we should hear more soon.
