Fortnite may soon be playable in VR

As time goes on, we have started to see more and more ‘flatscreen’ games be transformed into fully-realised and uncompromised VR experiences. Thanks to a new Fortnite update, we now know that the highly popular free-to-play game may be getting VR support.

As reported by Fortnite leaker ‘HYPEX’, though data mining it has been discovered that “Epic added stuff related to Oculus (Quest, Quest 2 & Mobile) in today's update,” suggesting that the team is gearing up for a virtual reality release of the ever-popular metaverse-y battle royale game.

If VR support is indeed coming to Fortnite in the future, it will be interesting to see in what form it comes. It is possible that the VR version will maintain the game’s 3rd-person perspective, with the VR headset serving as more of an expanded display with added depth.

Alternatively, it is possible that the game’s experimental 1st-person mode (which we previously reported on) is being developed in order to facilitate a fully immersive VR mode at some point in the future.

Fortnite in 2022 is much more than a simple free-to-play Battle Royale game, it is a whole ecosystem of ever-evolving virtual experiences designed to keep players playing. Strapping a VR headset on your face is one way to do it, and so we will have to wait and see what exactly becomes of this expected VR support.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
