Fable social accounts reaffirm Autumn 2026 release window following delay rumours

Over the weekend, a rumour began doing the rounds claiming that Fable had been internally delayed, perhaps pushing it as far as 2027 to avoid GTA 6. Playground Games is looking to squash that rumour quickly by reaffirming the game's release plans.

In a new tweet, without directly addressing the rumours, the Fable account responded to fans saying “excited to welcome you back to Albion in Autumn 2026”.

This doesn't entirely squash the possibility of a delay. The tweet isn't a direct response to the rumours and the social accounts for Fable respond to fans often, reiterating the same key talking points revealed during the Developer Direct a few months ago.

Even if Fable just needs a couple of extra months, that sort of delay would put the game into close proximity with GTA 6, which is expected to be the highest-selling game of the year. If that were to happen, the game would likely be held until early 2027.
