Warframe studio announces new Action MMO – Soulframe

It looks like Warframe will soon be a multi-game franchise. This weekend, Digital Extremes announced a new spin-off action RPG – Soulframe.

Soulframe will be Digital Extreme’s first new game in five years. The Action MMORPG will also be free to play, just like Warframe, although exact monetisation methods could well differ. While Warframe features fast-paced combat, Soulframe will focus on slow and heavy melee combat.

So far, we only have a cinematic trailer for Soulframe and there is no release date at this time. Some former Warframe leads are also moving on to work on the new game, including Geoff Crookes, who was previously the creative director on Warframe. Crookes will be replaced by current Warframe live-service lead, Rebecca Ford.

Given the lack of gameplay and other key details, we can expect news on Soulframe to go quiet for a while. Perhaps next year we’ll get our first look at gameplay and some kind of release window.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
