Marvel’s Midnight Suns is launching in October and features Insomniac’s Spider-Man

Marvel’s Midnight Suns has the potential to be one of the best games of the year. Developed by Firaxis Games of XCOM  and Civilization fame, the tactical role-playing game takes the calculated gameplay of XCOM and combines it with the expansive world of Marvel and its characters. During Summer Game Fest, Spider-Man and Venom were officially confirmed to be in the game.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is looking to have quite an impressive roster of characters. Alongside previously-announced heroes and villains (including the likes of Wolverine; Captain Marvel; Iron Man; Blade and main villain Lillith), it has now been confirmed that Spider-Man, Venom and The Hulk are in the game. Interestingly, the trailer shows both The Hulk and Venom being corrupted by Lillith, transforming into demonic versions of themselves.

Perhaps the most interesting detail from the trailer however (aside from the release date) was the fact that Spider-Man is being played by Yuri Lowenthal, the voice and mo-cap actor for 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man. Considering the fact that Square Enix’s Avengers game had an entirely different actor for Spider-Man, the choice to bring back Yuri for a non-Insomniac Games developed title is interesting.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is officially launching on the 7th of October for PlayStation, Xbox and PC with a Switch version coming at some point in the future. The first XCOM received universal praise, and its sequel was just as well liked. If Firaxis continues their streak, then Midnight Suns is going to be a very good time – hopefully.
