EA is reportedly working on a single-player Black Panther game

A few weeks ago, we heard that EA had recently secured a Marvel license and has begun working on a new game. Now, sources claim this will be a Black Panther game, developed by a new studio spearheaded by a former VP of Monolith Productions.

Kevin Stephens, former VP of Monolith Productions, the studio behind the Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War games, joined EA last year to start up a new studio. According to industry reporter, Jeff Grubb on Giant Bomb, this studio is working on a Black Panther game codenamed ‘Project Rainier'.

The game will feature an open world, although we don't know if the story will be set in Wakanda, or if the story will take us to other areas. The game is planned to be single-player, following a new hero taking on the Black Panther mantle.

The game is in early development, which makes sense as the studio only formed a year ago and likely spent some time prototyping other ideas before landing on this one. EA has not commented on this rumour at this time.
