Microsoft originally rejected bringing Flight Simulator 2024 to PlayStation 5

Among the many different Xbox console exclusives which have found their way onto Sony’s PlayStation platform, Microsoft Flight Simulator is perhaps the most ironic owing to its namesake. That said, following its announcement back in September, MSFS 2024 has now officially landed on the PS5. Interestingly, according to the game’s director Microsoft initially rejected the proposal – until Sony got involved.

In an interview conducted by the publication XDA-Developers, Asobo Studio head Jorg Neumann revealed that he was the one to first suggest the idea of bringing Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 to PS5, claiming:

“It was my idea, actually…so I proposed, probably two and a half years ago, to go to PlayStation. It was probably a little bit before its time because I was told no.”

In an interesting twist of fate, Neumann revealed that “somebody from Sony who grew up with flight simulation thought it would be a great addition to the Sony portfolio. They reached out proactively to our President, who then came back to me and said, ‘Hey, remember when we talked about the PlayStation thing a year ago? Sony is also interested.’”

Beyond this, Neumann spoke on the promised PSVR2 support which is slated for some time next year, claiming that “It was there from the beginning. Sony was super clear: they have a very dedicated VR audience that is excited about new VR games, and they were very clear that we would have a lot of support from that audience.”

Given the fact that Sony themselves have seemingly shied away from PSVR2 since its launch, it is somewhat encouraging to see that the console maker is still trying to push the technology in some ways.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
