Halo Infinite dataminers find evidence of Battle Royale mode

Over the weekend, we learned that the Halo Infinite multiplayer technical preview had shipped with some campaign-related files, leading to story spoilers. As it turns out, there may have been some multiplayer-related leaks too, leading to rumours of a battle royale style mode. 

As reported by VGC, a voice clip of the Halo multiplayer announcer was found in the technical preview files. This clip has the announcer saying “battle royale”, indicating that this is a planned game mode. Of course, 343 Industries said back in 2019 that it is not doing a battle royale mode for Infinite, but this clip indicates that the idea may have been revisited.

Halo Infinite is currently aiming for a holiday season release, with a campaign and free to play multiplayer. In the lead up to launch, 343 Industries will be holding a series of playtests to gather feedback. The first technical preview just took place from July 29th to August 2nd, which is where this voice clip leak came from.

The next technical preview date is currently unknown, but 343 Industries should have an update in its next development blog at the end of August.
