AMD Ryzen 9 5900 and Ryzen 7 5800 non-X now available through OEMs

Back at CES 2021, AMD confirmed that the Ryzen 9 5900 and Ryzen 7 5800 (non-X) will be coming this year for OEMs. As it seems, PC makers are finally starting to receive those processors, with Alienware being one of the first to include them as a configuration option.

The Dell listing (via Wccftech) shows that you can now order an Alienware Aurora Ryzen Edition R10 gaming PC with either the Ryzen 7 5800 or the Ryzen 9 5900. The Ryzen 7 5800 is the base option, which is $150 cheaper than its X variant. The Ryzen 9 5900 costs $250 more than the Ryzen 7 5800, but it's $300 cheaper than the Ryzen 9 5900X.

Both non-X variants come with a 65W TDP and feature significantly lower base clocks than their X counterparts. The Ryzen 9 5900 is a 12C/24T processor with a 3.0GHz base clock and a 4.7GHz boost clock, meaning it comes with a 700MHz lower base clock and a 100MHz decrease in the boost clock compared to the Ryzen 9 5900X. As for the 8C/16T Ryzen 7 5800, the clock difference is lesser, with a base clock of 3.4GHz base clock (400MHz less) and boost speeds up to 4.6GHz (100MHz less).

For now, it seems only Dell/Alienware has them available, but other OEMs should follow soon. Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru says: AMD hasn't announced a Ryzen 5 5600, but perhaps we'll see that later in the year. If AMD released these non-X SKUs to the DIY market, would you buy one?
