Batman: Arkham City made over $600 million and sold over 12.5 million copies

Batman: Arkham City was one of the best open-world games to release in the Xbox 360/PS3 era. Less than half a year after the game's launch in 2012, the game had shipped six million copies. Now all these years later, we have a better idea of how well the game fared over a longer period and just how much money it earned.

While looking at the Linkedin profile of former Warner Bros global franchise manager, Michael Elkind, Twitter user Timur222 discovered some previously unannounced stats for Arkham City:

As we can see from the profile, Elkind worked on Arkham City between 2010 and 2012. The marketing efforts, and the hard work of the developers, combined to generate 12.5 million sales. This led to over $600 million in revenue for Warner Bros Entertainment.

It is not known if these sales numbers are just limited to 2012, or if they stretch over the game's lifetime sales. Either way though, Warner Bros double dipped on the success a couple of years back with the ill-received Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City remasters for Xbox One and PS4.

KitGuru Says: We always knew that Arkham City was a huge success but it is interesting to see some more specific statistics. Did many of you play Arkham City back in the day?
