Hideo Kojima might be in Cyberpunk 2077

One of the biggest E3 moments in recent memory was when Keanu Reeves took to the Microsoft stage to reveal that he would play a significant role in CD Projekt Red’s much-anticipated open-world RPG Cyberpunk 2077. It would appear as though Reeves might not be the only big name to feature in the game, as a new post by the studio has led fans to speculate that Hideo Kojima might make an appearance in the game too.

Death Stranding, Hideo Kojima's most recent project, released for Windows on the 14th of July. As is typical with most major releases, other studios took to social media to congratulate the director on his latest efforts. One of these congratulatory messages however took fans by surprise.

CD Projekt Red – who are currently working on their upcoming RPG Cyberpunk 2077 – took to Twitter to say “From Tokyo to Night City — that's quite a ride… Congratulations on the PC launch of Death Stranding, Kojima-san and the team!”

Alongside the Tweet were two photos of Kojima at a Cyberpunk booth, riding an Akira-inspired motorbike. What’s more interesting is the fact that the second photo appears to be some form of CG render or concept art, with Kojima wearing different cyberpunk-styled clothing.

This has led fans to speculate that the game director might make an appearance in the upcoming CDPR RPG. If so, this wouldn't be the first time that Kojima has cameoed in a game. Most recently, the director lent his voice talents to the action-adventure game Control by Remedy Entertainment. Kojima is also well-known for including a number of celebrity cameos – including himself – in his games.

With both Keanu Reeves and Grimes lending their voices and likenesses to Cyberpunk 2077, it isn’t too much of a stretch to suggest that Hideo Kojima might also find his way into the upcoming game. It’ll be interesting to see just how many recognisable faces make an appearance in Cyberpunk 2077, when it releases on the 19th of November 2020.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
