‘A Minecraft Movie’ sequel officially announced; arriving in 2027

After being in some level of development for over a decade, Warner Bros. ‘A Minecraft Movie’ finally arrived earlier this year to middling critic reviews but a strong fan response. Most importantly (for WB), the film was a box office juggernaut – earning just shy of $1 Billion and landing as the 3rd highest grossing film of the year. As such, it comes as little surprise that a sequel has now been officially announced.

As reported by Deadline (and making the announcement via a teaser image showcasing two pickaxes), Warner Bros. officially confirmed that a sequel to ‘A Minecraft Movie’ is in the works.

Currently penned for the 23rd of July 2027, the sequel will see Jared Hess return as director while also serving as one of the screenwriters. Hess will also be joined by Chris Galletta (who helped write the screenplay for the first film).

Minecraft Sequel

Beyond this, little is known about the sequel, with the aforementioned screenplay said to be “under wraps”. However, it would not be surprising to see all the main cast from the first entry brought back for A Minecraft Movie 2 – or whatever it ends up being called.

Though it may have taken a decade for the first Minecraft film to come to fruition, Warner Bros. are clearly not wasting any time in trying to get the sequel out as soon as possible. It will be interesting to see just how much money the next film makes – and whether it will surpass the Billion Dollar mark.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
