Nintendo Indie World Showcase returns this week

Last week, Nintendo held a Direct showcase to announce a number of third-party games for the Switch 2. A new showcase has now been announced for August, this time focused on the indies. 

The Nintendo Indie World showcase returns on the 7th of August at 2PM BST. The stream will run for around 15 minutes, showing off new independently developed games for the Switch and Switch 2.

As Switch 2 devkits are still quite scarce, the indie developers featured in this showcase were likely hand-picked by Nintendo prior to the Switch 2 launch, which means there should be some exciting and creative games shown.

There is still no word on when Nintendo will next show off first-party games for the Switch 2. Many fans were disappointed with last week's Direct as quite a few of the announcements were older games being ported, or games we already knew about like EA FC and Madden. The silence on the first-party front led to new rumours that Metroid Prime 4 would be delayed, but Nintendo recently denied those claims.

KitGuru Says: For years, we were hearing rumoured about Nintendo's next-gen hardware, but everything we've seen so far around the Switch 2 suggests that the console launch was somewhat rushed. Nintendo has done a great job with producing units and refreshing global stocks, but the lack of major exclusive games, or even upgrades for older Switch 1 games, has been disappointing.
