Cancelled ‘The Story of Rayman’ game from 2021 has surfaced

There was once a time when Rayman was easily Ubisoft’s most recognisable character, with the platforming mascot sitting alongside Crash Bandicoot, Spyro and the like during the 1990s and 2000s. That said, we’ve not seen a new mainline entry in over a decade. While Ubisoft has announced that they are working on a new Rayman game, this won’t be their first attempt at a revival – with an ill-fated reboot recently revealed to have been in the works back in 2021.

As shared by the Twitter fanpage ‘RaymanTogether’ a former Ubisoft employee recently took to their LinkedIn to reveal concepts for a new entry in the dormant series.

According to the developer “In 2021, I had the opportunity to challenge myself at Ubisoft on a trial project for Rayman, but unfortunately, the project did not proceed.”

Alongside this, the ex-employee published a number of concept logos for the cancelled project, indicating that it either would have been called ‘Rayman Forever' or ‘The Story of Rayman' – likely the latter.

Though little else was shared regarding this project, it appears as though Ubisoft was putting a great deal of thought into this title, with the dev explaining “As part of the redesign of their flagship game, Rayman, Ubisoft asked us to do some research on the game's new logo and home screen. Rayman was THE game that launched the studio, so they wanted to do everything they could to make this new edition a success, hence the long research and meticulous progress.”

As mentioned, this project unfortunately never came to be, and so as of right now the latest Rayman game is in fact the NFT-filled Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E. A new, proper entry can’t come soon enough.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
