Turtle Rock Studios begins focussing on VR, announces ‘The Well’

It looks like the folks over at Turtle Rock Studios have been doing plenty of experimenting since moving on from Left 4 Dead and Evolve. After a brief period of silence, Turtle Rock has reemerged with a brand new Fantasy RPG called ‘The Well’, developed for VR.

The Well will put players in the world of ‘Tholl’ in the midst of a fight against evil forces looking to take over. You get to pick from a rather standard set of fantasy RPG classes, including a warrior, a mage, a rogue, or a druid.

The trailer for the game unfortunately doesn’t show much in terms of combat but it does give you an idea of the general art style and tone the developers are going for.

The only major downside to this game is the fact that it is being made exclusively for the Samsung GearVR, so it won’t be available on PC platforms, like the Oculus Rift or SteamVR. This isn’t the only virtual reality game Turtle Rock Studios has in the works though, there is also a co-op based first-person shooter on the way at some point.

KitGuru Says: It’s a shame that so many apps end up exclusive to Oculus Home on the GearVR and remain locked off from the PC side of things. Hopefully Turtle Rock’s next VR game will branch out a bit more as far as platforms are concerned. Do any of you own a GearVR? Is gaming something you use it for very often?
