A remastered version of Gears of War could be coming

It looks like Black Tusk Studios could be preparing a Gears of War re-release for the Xbox One in preparation for the series comeback next year. This is not the first time we have heard this rumor either as images of a Gears of War themed console popped up earlier this year.

Speaking with Polygon, anonymous sources said that Gears of War for the Xbox One would feature updated visuals and cut scenes, worked on by Plastic Wax, an animation studio. The news outlet was also apparently shown screenshots of the re-worked opening cinematic for the game.

Prior to this, there were rumors that Microsoft was preparing an entire collection of remastered Gears of War games dubbed ‘the Marcus Fenix Collection'. However Black Tusk Studio head, Rod Fergusson, denied these rumors earlier this year.

Either way, Gears of War is being worked on, with another addition to the series expected to release next year. Microsoft purchased the Gears of War IP from Epic Games last year and immediately put its own studio, Black Tusk Studios, in-charge of future Gears of War titles.

KitGuru Says: Gears of War is one of Microsoft's biggest Xbox franchises. However, the series took a bit of a dive during its later years. It would be nice to see Gears of War given the ‘anniversary' treatment and maybe even brought back to the PC platform ahead of the new game next year.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.

  1. PC for Christ sake.

  2. Yeah, they are sticking with that petty ~waah we lose to piracy waaah~ crying ever since the first game’s release. It’s been useless expecting anything sensible from them.

  6. Of course peeps would play it. The difference this time around, everyone knows about a PC release. People are only just finding out about the original. Publication is the key to success on PC. With Windows 10 & the Xbox integration. Looking good for a gears remaster. https://m.facebook.com/groups/gearsofwarpc/
