Best Buy adding 600 Microsoft Mini stores

Our American readers will be interested to hear that Microsoft have teamed up with retailer Best Buy to bring the ‘Microsoft Store' experience instore.

Later this month Microsoft mini stores will be opened inside Best Buy branches – a total of 500 in the U.S. and another 100 in Canada. The stores will be 1,500 to 2,200 square feet in size and will allow shoppers to see and use Microsoft products such as tablets, Xbox, PC builds, Windows Phones and Microsoft Office suites. Microsoft products will also be sold in other parts of the store.

Chris Capossela, chief marketing officer at Microsoft said in his blog “We will have a great Windows tablet table inside the Best Buy Tablet Department, Windows Phones in their Phone Department, and lots of space for Xbox in their Gaming and Home Theater Departments.”

Microsoft wanted to work with Best Buy as they are the biggest PC retailer in America. It offers people some distance away from the 68 Microsoft Stores in North America, the chance to get up close and personal with Microsoft products such as the Surface tablet.

Capossela added “Retail is a priority, and this partnership with Best Buy is a prime example of our commitment to the customer experience in evaluating, experiencing and enjoying Microsoft devices, and the software and services that connect them.”

Kitguru says: Surely a good way for Microsoft to sell more product in the states.
