Tt eSPORTS Shock Gaming Headset Review

The Shock seems to be a pretty comfortable headset to use, even for extended periods of time.  It's slightly less comfortable than our benchmark headset, the SteelSeries Siberia V2 but that is widely regarded as one of the most comfortable headsets on the market.

Tt eSPORTS have opted for an over-the-head design with the Shock, meaning the earpads make contact with the sides of your head, completely surrounding your ears.  The earpads themselves are covered in cloth which prevents them from getting uncomfortable during long gaming sessions.

There is plenty of adjustment in the headband which certainly helps to achieve a comfortable fit.  The weight of the headset seems to be fairly evenly distributed across the earcups and the headband, too.

We commenced our testing of the headset with a little Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.  We found the sound balance of the headset was well suited to this type of game.  Gunfire and explosions were rendered with considerable presence but didn't completely overshadow key background noises.  The stereo configuration of this headset limits sound panning considerably compared to surround-sound models but it's as good as can be expected considering.

Moving on to music playback, the Shock also performed well.  The sound produced was very full and was especially impressive in the lower registers.  We tested the sound of the headset across a smorgasbord of different music styles and it remained perfectly composed both when reproducing a classical piano nocturne by Chopin and when thumping out a couple of drum and bass tracks.

Finally we subjected the Shock to one of our favourite movie playback tests, the opening sequence of The Dark Knight.  The bass notes near the beginning were rendered with considerable presence but the lack of sound panning was noticeable throughout.  Those who are looking for a top-notch movie playback experience would be advised to opt for a virtual surround sound model instead.
